Case Study – Chemical Industry – Yara Porsgrunn

Yara Porsgrunn is located at Herøya outside Porsgrunn, about 140 km southwest of Oslo. The site covers an area of approximately 1.5 square kilometers. As a result of the growth strategy of Yara, the fertilizer plant needed to be upgraded in order to expand the production capacity. This also required additional storage capacity of fertilizer or Calcium Nitrate. In a previous study for other plant locations, the Eurosilo system was mentioned as one of the alternatives.
